Responding to a brief which called for a modern, simple yet inviting space with wide appeal. This school canteen was updated to have a centralised kitchen and servery, our team had to space plan around several awkwardly located supporting columns to create a fresh, contemporary social hub for all ages.

Enclosing the columns and creating linear timber dividing screens between allowed for bespoke fixed seating, with beautiful leather detailing. Central high tables give students and teachers the opportunity to share ideas around. Whist low level fixed seating are the perfect space to relax and unwind before rushing off to their next lecture. Acoustic panelling to the ceiling dampens the loud bustle and clangs of hungry student chowing down on food from the split servery and coffee station. Using monochromatic colours, soft dappled lighting, warm, light timbers, and planting. This sleek yet delightful space will last the test of time.
