Maryborough, Victoria
Och aye! Maryborough Highlands Society, home to the Highland games and pipe band championships, has a new sports bar and beers garden. As hosts of the Highland games and pipe championships since 1857, this club has been the corner stone of Australian-Scottish culture since it they started 150 years ago.
The sports bar has fun modern twists on classic Scottish patterns and textures with electric pops of colour and rugged natural finishes. Including the feature log wall paying homage to caber tossing, and classic Scottish comic covers made into bespoke wallpaper in the bathrooms.
The carpet running throughout and linking into the existing venue, is a monochromatic thistle pattern, which offers a plush comfort against harder finishes, such as the tiled bar front creating a traditional tartan pattern.
The new beer garden is simple yet perfectly planned out for the Sunday sesh. Reclaimed timber creates seating running the perimeter of the courtyard, with covered sections for those wanting to shy away from the harsh country sun. Large concrete sharing tables with planting in the centre; And fire and ice table tables to gather around come cold days or blazing ones. Perfect place to have a beer and have a yarn with friends and family.
