The Chase Hotel

Forest Hill, Melbourne

In the heart of newly renovated Forest Hill Shopping centre an imperial Chinese garden rises from the bustling crowds to entice shoppers into its harmonious yet lavish interior. This oriental inspired venue flaunts a 6 meter high open pergola with enchanting plants and contemporary lighting in the style of rice paper lanterns. Koi fish dance delicately across the walls, and around the custom carpet guiding patrons to each area. To separate the restaurant and TAB, traditional screens have been formed using modern finishes like concrete and powder coated steel to keep the space contemporaneously refined. The new central bar is crowned with a gold curtain, inspired by a traditional empress headdress. Outside on the balcony, which was once a lifeless space, has been refashioned into a cosy hub, where people can enjoy a cold beer and soak up the scenic views of the Dandenong ranges.
